Skoda reveals tougher-looking Scout version of new Kodiaq

With a more rugged appearance than the standard model, as well as four-wheel drive, the Kodiaq Scout will be seen in the flesh for the first time at the Geneva Show in March

Skoda has revealed a new Scout version of its Kodiaq SUV. Like existing Scout versions of other Skoda models, this is tougher-looking than the standard car, and features a design that emphasises off-road use.
In this case, that means a unique set of 19-inch alloy wheels, underbody protection front and rear, and tinted rear and side windows. There is also plenty of silver detailing all over the body, including on the grille, roof rails, wing mirror housings and side window trim. The package of equipment and interior materials is based on the existing SE trim, but in keeping with the car’s off-road intentions, it also has some suitable extra standard equipment. This includes ‘Off-Road Assist’ and a ‘Rough-Road’ package to help protect the car (particularly its underside), while the Driving Mode Select includes a Snow mode, and the Scout has 194mm of ground clearance (more than the standard Kodiaq).

Like every Kodiaq, the Scout also comes with a wide range of driver-assistance systems, as well as the latest infotainment systems.
Although there will be a choice of four engines – 1.4- and 2.0-litre petrol units, plus two versions of the 2.0 diesel – all will come with four-wheel drive. The most economical is the less powerful (148bhp) version of the diesel, with CO2 emissions of 139g/km and average economy of 53.3mpg. We’ll get our first chance to see the car in the flesh at the Geneva Motor Show in March; and, although there is no word yet on how much the Scout will cost, we’d expect buyers to have to pay a couple of thousand pounds more for it than for the equivalent standard model.
