Coming soon: 2021 BMW i4
Meet BMW’s answer to the Tesla Model 3 – the Concept i4. Although a concept in name, this all-electric version of the forthcoming BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe four-door is due on sale – with minimal changes – in 2021.

Expect the production version of the i4 to look very similar to this concept. Details such as the headlights and door mirrors are likely to change, but the main body panels – and huge front grille – are set to stay.
Likewise, while the overall shape and layout of the concept car’s interior is likely to reach the showroom, the light grey and pink colour scheme is expected to be replaced by something a bit darker and more subdued.

The i4 will join the iX3 (an EV version of the X3 SUV) at the forefront of a new generation of BMW pure electric models. Powered by a 80 kWh battery, it promises a maximum range of 373 miles and exhilarating performance, with a 0-62mph time of around four seconds.
Prices are likely to be a close match for rivals such as the Tesla Model 3, so expect them to start at about £45,000.
