If you’ve seen Rory compare the Mercedes-AMG A45 against its A35 little brother already you’ll know he was seriously impressed. But 421 horsepower and a dedicated Drift Mode in a hot hatch will do that to you, even if it does cost a hefty £50,000 (and then some).
To really put the theory to the test we brought another car along to the shoot to ask, with that £50,000 to splash on a fast car, could you really blow it on a souped-up A-Class? Or should you really be buying a proper sports car, with the pedigree of a badge everyone will recognise and respect? That sports car is the Porsche 718 Cayman T, a special version of the already pretty tasty mid-engined coupe, preloaded with a wishlist of options you’d usually pay extra for and topped off with a lovely coat of Miami Blue paint. It’s a gorgeous machine and everything the sports car fan with that kind of money to spend could want, other than back seats and a usable boot. Could that be enough to swing it back in favour of the Mercedes? Really? Time to find out… For more great videos don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel and give Rory a thumbs up!
