Aston Martin has updated the Vantage. But unlike most manufacturers, who simply tweak the front bumper and offer a new paint colour, Aston is bringing us an almost entirely new car. The latest model will be the fastest ever Aston Martin to wear the Vantage nameplate, producing 155 more horsepower than the outgoing model from a hand-built 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. It may be the entry-level Aston Martin, but don’t be fooled, it is the sportiest model in the range with supercar-like performance capable of a top speed of 202 mph. Combining a 50:50 weight distribution, state-of-the-art technology, and unmistakeable Aston Martin design, it promises to be truly engaging to drive.
We can’t wait to find out if it’s as good as it looks. • The Vantage is the smallest and sportiest model in the range, with supercar-like performance • With a new look, new tech and a highly tuned engine, the Vantage will be highly driver-focused • Packing 665 horsepower, it has a 0-60mph time of 3.4 seconds • First deliveries will be in the second quarter of 2024 • Starting price expected to be £165,000

Design and models available

The design of the new Vantage is inspired by the One-77 supercar. The Vantage is now 30mm wider than the previous model with a broader front grille, bigger wheel arches, and larger diameter exhaust pipes. Key design elements include the all-new matrix LED headlights, frameless wingmirrors and the return of iconic Aston Martin side vent strakes.
The Q by Aston Martin personalisation service allows you to make the Vantage your own. In addition to the vast range of paint colours, there’s also three designs available for the 21-inch wheels, each with an array of colours and finishes to choose from. These are fitted with bespoke Michelin tyres and there’s an option to add carbon ceramic brakes. On top of that, you can customise your Vantage with pinstripes along the front splitter, side sills and rear diffuser in your choice of 21 colours. If that’s not enough, you can even embellish with a line of ‘lipstick’ around the grille and a colour infill at the rear.

Interior and tech

The interior is all-new for this latest Vantage model. It’s now much more modern than before with an integrated infotainment system unique to Aston Martin and first seen in the DB12. This has online connectivity that can update in real time, giving traffic updates and displaying 3D navigation instructions. It also links to the new Aston Martin app. The 10.25-inch touchscreen is complimented by physical buttons that control things like the climate control and the driving set up of the car. There’s an option to upgrade to a Bowers & Wilkins sound system and the seats cocoon you in hand-stitched leather.

Engines

This is the fastest Vantage ever, with an extensively tuned 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine coupled to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. This results in a total of 665 horsepower, a 0-60mph time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of up to 202 mph. The Vantage uses lots of technical wizardry that Aston Martin says works alongside input from the driver with sensors around the car dynamically adapting to external conditions. This controls the ride, handling, and steering, and tracks the car’s movements in six directions. Rather than taking feel away from the driver, though, Aston says it adds to the overall driving experience. There’s a variety of driving modes along with a new launch control system and adjustable traction control.

Aston Martin launched the new Vantage road car alongside its Vantage GT3 race car and its latest Formula 1 entry. Looking ahead to the future, Aston has teased various performance models and mid-engine supercars, like the Valhalla as it moves into a new era.

What other cars that are upcoming will this compete with?

By giving this new Vantage more power than its closest rivals, the Porsche 911 and Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, Aston Martin will be looking to show its competitors just what it is capable of.
Alex Legouix has had a good look around the new Vantage. Make sure you check out our video here and if you haven’t subscribed to our YouTube channel already, we highly recommend you do.
