If you’ve decided that a Tesla Model Y, is the next car for you, then the next decision to make is which colour Tesla you’d like in your driveway and what kind of upholstery you’d like in the interiors.
There are five colour options available in the UK including red, blue, black, silver and white. All five options are available on the Tesla Model Y Long Range and the Performance model. Tesla also gives you the option of choosing between a solid paint, metallic paint or a two-coat paint on some of these colours.

Tesla Model Y Paint Types

1. Solid paint - Available as the most standard paint option on cars, a solid paint is applied to the car when it’s manufactured. It involves the application of a primer, paint and lacquer layer to the car which makes it simpler to apply as compared to the other paint options. The car colour doesn’t have a shiny or matte finish to it which is why it’s the cheapest, as well as the easiest to repair in case of any scratches or damage.
2. Metallic paint - Usually available as an optional-extra, a metallic paint adds a shiny finish to the car’s colour. It follows the same process of application as a solid paint but involves an additional step of adding powdered aluminium to the paint to make the car’s exterior sparkle under the sun. 3. Multi-coat paint - Another optional-extra paint available on new cars is the multi-coat paint which makes the car even shinier than the metallic paint. The multi-coat paint uses ceramic crystals instead of metal in the car colour which adds a layer of depth to the car’s exterior. It is also known as a Pearleascent paint option.

Tesla Model Y: Exterior colours

Pearl White

Type: Multi-coat
Cost: No cost (default colour) Available On: All models White is the most common colour you’ll spot people driving a Tesla in. This is because the Pearl White colour is the only colour available free of cost on a Tesla Model Y. And also because it looks great. What’s more is it that the Pearl White Tesla comes in a multi-coat paint finish which gives the car a glossy touch, and makes it stand out from the other white cars on the road and gives it a luxurious look. White cars in general need a bit more looking after as dust and grime are more visible on the surface, but nonetheless, Pearl White remains a popular colour on the Tesla Model Y.

Solid Black

Type: Solid
Cost: £1,100 Available On: All models Available as an optional-extra, Tesla offers a Solid Black colour on the Tesla Model Y for a price of £1,100. The Black colour looks expensive and stylish and is available as a solid paint. We love how moody and mystic the black colour looks on the Tesla Model Y but the only downfall is that it hides the gorgeous features on the exterior of the Model Y as the detailing, and the sleek handles and the wheels are also black in colour.

Midnight Silver

Type: Metallic
Cost: £1,100 Available On: All models For those who prefer a metallic colour for their cars, Tesla offers the Midnight Silver which comes in a metallic paint. Available for an extra £1,100, the silver paint is true to its name with a deep, slightly grey colour look. The benefit of going for this greyish-silver colour Tesla is that it’s great at hiding any dirt on the surface of the car which means it’ll require minimal upkeep.

Deep Blue

Type: Metallic
Cost: £1,100 Available On: All models Another one for the metallic paint fan out there – the Deep Blue is a regal-looking blue that looks almost purple-ish when seen under certain light lights. It’s also surprisingly not the most common Tesla you’ll see on the road. Priced at £1,100, the Deep Blue colour is a striking colour to have on your driveway and sure to get some heads turning.

Red

Type: Multi-coat
Cost: £2,100 Available On: All models The most expensive paint option on the Tesla Model Y is the Red. Finished in a multi-coat paint, a red Tesla Model Y costs £2,100 more than the standard pearl white, making it a not-so-common Tesla colour. The red does look spectacular though, making it a classy and a minimalistic colour option to go for. Lease a brand new Tesla Model Y on Auto Trader
