In our review of the new 2020 Mini JCW GP (aka Mini GP3), Rory Reid manages to pack in a short track session, interior preview and take a close look at those wheel arches and giant rear wing.
This third-generation model is the most bonkers Mini we've ever seen, with the quickest 0-60 time. At £34,000, the price is pretty reasonable, too, given the performance. Would you buy one?

Mini GP at a glance

The Mini GP is touted as the fastest and most powerful production Mini ever. This third-generation Mini adds power, strips weight and looks meaner than ever.

Mini GP interior

The Mini GP’s interior is fairly standard Mini fare, with a contemporary layout, a round infotainment screen and fighter jet-style buttons and switches.
At the back of the car, they’ve ripped out the rear seats to save weight. Instead, you’ll find an aluminium cross brace to improve chassis stiffness and to stop luggage rolling around.

Mini GP engine and performance

The engine in the Mini GP is a two-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged unit. It’ll make 306hp and 450Nm, which is pretty impressive.
The first two GPs made 218hp and would do 0-62 in about 6.5. This, with the extra power, drops the 0-62 time to 5.2 seconds.

Mini GP review

The Mini GP may not be the most practical car on the market, but is one of the most fun. If you’re after a driving experience quite unlike standard Mini JCWs, the Mini GP is worth your attention.
