Getting a 125cc (A1) motorcycle licence

You must be at least 17 years of age to hold an A1 licence, and once you have passed the two-part test, it allows you to ride a motorcycle or scooter up to 125cc and with maximum power of 11KW.

As with the AM licence, once you hold an A1 licence, you do not need to display L plates and you can also carry a passenger. After you have held an A1 licence for two years, you can take a further practical test to qualify for an A2 licence.
